Short answer: it's a listing photo that shows your design printed at several real sizes, side by side, drawn to scale against each other — so a buyer can tell an 8×10 from a 24×36 at a glance, instead of trying to picture inches from a size dropdown. Group the sizes by shape (ratio), keep 5–6 of them, and add a simple scale reference like a chair or a person so the biggest size feels real.
Almost every successful printable wall art shop on Etsy sells the same design at more than one size — a listing that only offers one size limits its own sales. The "available sizes" image is usually the second or third photo in the listing, right after the mockup shots, and it does one job: turn "which size do I need?" into an obvious, visual answer.
Why sizes are grouped by ratio
An 8×10 print is a 4:5 shape. An 11×14 is its own shape, close to but not the same as 4:5. A 16×24 is 2:3. If your file is a 4:5 crop and a buyer orders 16×24, either you crop it for them (they lose part of the design) or they get an unwanted white border. Grouping your available-sizes image by ratio — and only showing sizes your files actually cover — sets the right expectation before the sale, which means fewer size-related questions and returns.
Building blocks of a good size-comparison image
- 5 to 6 sizes. Fewer looks thin; more than seven gets cramped and hard to read at listing-thumbnail size.
- One shared baseline. Lining every frame up on the same "floor" line (rather than centering each one) is what makes the scale read correctly — a 24×36 should visibly tower over an 8×10 sitting next to it.
- A scale reference. A simple armchair, sofa or person silhouette at the correct relative height turns "24×36 inches" into "about as tall as your armchair" — buyers scanning quickly understand real size faster than they read numbers.
- Clear labels. Print the size under each frame in large enough text to read as a thumbnail (Etsy shows listing photos small in search).
- A calm background. Light neutral or dark neutral, not a busy pattern — the frames are the subject.

How to make yours
- Drop your design. Any PNG or JPG — a higher-resolution file looks sharper inside the smaller frames on the image.
- Pick sizes. Tick 5–6 sizes across the ratios you actually sell, grouped in the panel by shape.
- Style it. Light or dark background, a heading, your shop name, and — optionally — a chair, sofa or person silhouette so the scale feels real.
- Export. Download a 2000×2000 or 2000×2500 JPG or PNG and upload it as a listing photo, ideally right after your main mockup shot.
Common mistakes on size-comparison images
- Mixing shapes without saying so. Putting an 8×10 (4:5) next to a 16×24 (2:3) with no ratio label implies they're both simple scaled copies of the same crop, which they aren't.
- No shared baseline. Centering every frame vertically instead of sitting them on the same line hides the actual size difference.
- Too many sizes. A wall of ten tiny frames is harder to read at thumbnail size than five clear ones.
- Tiny labels. If the size text isn't legible once Etsy shrinks the photo to a search thumbnail, it isn't doing its job.
