Fill vs. Fit — which should I use?

• Fit whole photo — nothing is cropped; the whole photo is shown at its natural proportions with a background color filling the rest. Best for a shop icon or logo where cropping would cut off part of the design.

Common mistakes

• Uploading a banner that's the minimum size. 1200 × 300 will pass Etsy's check but looks soft on a high-resolution monitor — export at the recommended 3360 × 840 instead, which this tool does by default.
• A non-square profile photo. Etsy crops it to a circle either way; starting square avoids stretching or an off-center crop.
